The meme comes from Obsession, a 2026 horror film where a guy named Bear finds a mysterious "One Wish Willow" and wishes for his crush Nikki (played by Inde Navarrette) to fall in love with him. Spoiler: it works too well. Nikki gets possessed by the wish, goes fully unhinged obsessive, and her signature move is this dead-eyed, lower-lip-jutted, why won't you love me pout-stare that burns straight through your soul.
Internet people saw that face and immediately went: oh wait, that's just a girlfriend meme.
